Spectrum is offering places for the following workshop designed for friends and families of someone with Borderline Personality Disorder. Learning about Borderline Personality Disorder A workshop series held on four (4) consecutive Tuesday evenings: Tuesday 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th February 2017. This workshop series is an opportunity to learn about Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and how to best support the person with BPD whilst still caring for yourself. This group will explore a number of education and practical approaches to learning new skills in the context of a safe environment amongst other carers. Presenters: Rita Brown and Peter Fairbanks.Rita Brown is the Carer Consultant for Spectrum and provides a lived experience of supporting/caring for someone with BPD in a number of Spectrum’s workshops. Rita is also a volunteer and board member of the Australian BPD Foundation and a co-facilitator of the Mind Australia BPD Family and Carer Support Group.Peter Fairbanks is a senior social work clinician who has worked at Spectrum since it opened in 1999. Over this time he has worked in various parts of the service including 9 years in Treatment Services, 6 years as the Intake Clinician and Training Coordinator. Recently Peter has moved into providing Secondary Consultation to services and part of Spectrum’s new Consumer and Carer Program.Who should register? The workshop series is designed for friends and families of someone with either a confirmed (or probable) diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.Date: 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th February 2017.NB.
