A Project, A Presentation, A Placement with Peer Support And A Publication – Oh, The Possibilities!

Today at the local Peer Support Centre, I got a couple of friends to agree to join me in Project I Am Not Ashamed.  I may have a few more friends join me.  I’ll find out Monday.  I’m really excited!  I’m hoping that we can get the Centre involved in the project somehow.  I’ll find out more next week.  We need more people to join in the project!  We have until August 18th.  But we need to spread the word.  I want to shout it from the rooftops!  I talked to a staff member and my friends at the Centre and we have some ideas we’re going to run by their boss.  I hope he approves them!  We have a few areas in town that we’d like to cover.  We’ll have to finalize it as August 18th gets closer.

Next month, I’m doing a presentation on BPD at the Centre.  I’m hoping that it’ll get more people to attend my group.  I want to reach as many people as possible.

We have a student on a placement at the Centre working towards a credit and some work experience.  They might be sending her and I out into the community to talk to people about the Centre and peer support and mental health/mental illness.  I’m very excited if it works out!

I’ve done a rough draft of a newsletter for the Centre.  The staff have emailed it to their boss and are waiting to see if he approves it for me publishing it and distributing it in the Centre and possibly around town, maybe even out of town.  They might even have the placement student and I hand them out if we go out into the community to talk to people.

I will keep you all updated on how these possibilities work out.  Till then,

— Joyce.
