Today is the anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death. Marilyn was believed to have suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder. She was terrified of abandonment and being alone, going from one relationship to another, often before the previous one had ended. She had problems with substance abuse. She definitely had identity disturbance issues, creating a persona of Marilyn, carried on by Hollywood. I’m sure she suffered from chronic feelings of emptiness. She suffered from paranoia of becoming seriously mentally ill, like her mother. It’s easy to see why she would have abandonment issues, being in care then married off at an early age.
A great book I’ve read about her is “Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe” by Anthony Summers.
In honour of her memory, here is a video of “Candle In The Wind” by Elton John. I love this song!
